Rotary 5K Run for Polio

We are excited about this year's race. We're adding some new twists and really working to make this race one of the premiere event. If you haven't run this race before, this would be a great year to start.

This year’s event will be held on April 7, 2012 in Winchester’s Jim Barnett park at the Rotary shelter. The 5k race will start at 8:30 AM. A new Kid's One Mile Race will start at 9:30. The kid’s Fun Run begins at 10:00 AM. Registration starts at 7:30 AM.
Last year over 65 runners/walkers helped raise over $1700 for rotary’s international polio plus drive to eradicate polio in the world. Rotary International met their $200 Million challenge to Polio. So, this year's race funds will be used to support local charities in the Winchester area.
The course is the same as the one we had two years ago. It starts at the Rotary shelter, then over to Shenandoah University, then back to Jim Barnett Park, around the War Memorial building, ending at the shelter. Great course for runners & walkers, scenic, not to hilly until the end. Many thanks to Shenandoah Valley Runners Club for their help in organizing this race
